Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to Help You Build with Confidence

There are many things to take into account when considering a construction project. Whether it’s a home extension, loft or garage conversion, house remodel, renovation or refurbishment, or building something completely bespoke, I’m sure you will have many questions.

From how much things cost, how long they take, the general process and much more, we’ve had questions a plenty fired at us over the years. We’ve therefore documented some of these below for those who have their own unanswered questions. Neatly categorised in their own respective subject area.

You can browse some of our frequently asked questions below, or if you would rather give us a call or an email, we would be happy to answer your burning questions there too.

This would need to be assessed with various factors in mind, such as the area (whether it is within a conservation area), access, the quality of the ground, drainage capabilities and so on. We carry out full assessments on a case by case basis, and work closely with Architects, Local Councils and Building Regulators.

This depends entirely on what is being built. Larger new build projects (such as houses) will require full planning permissions, but for smaller new build projects (such as a new build garage for instance) might not necessarily, although Building Regulations approval would be needed if it is to attach to an existing structure (such as a house), or if the garage is to be used for habitable use.

The length of time to complete a new build will depend entirely on what is being built. Generally, the bigger the build, and with more complexities, the longer it will take. We provide in depth timescales on all of our New Build projects.

Our New Build projects range from full new build houses, through to more stand alone additions, such as garages, annexes, garden pods, orangeries, and conservatories. This list is not exhaustive.

To build a new home from scratch varies quite significantly cost wise based on numerous factors – such as the building type, size, design, location, and so much more. It’s difficult to put an exact figure to it without fully understanding the desired spec and requirements. This would require a conversation in the first instance.

What Our Customers Say

"Just completed a major house remodel with Outline Construction, and I would not hesitate to recommend them. They were very professional, worked really well with us in residence, and their work is top quality."

Lee Kenny House Remodel

"Outline construction did a fantastic job of our build last August. We needed to knock through 3 walls to create a large family kitchen diner. Dom was spot on from start to finish, helping us choose materials, make decisions and was always available to chat things "

Sara Winder

"We could not be happier with Outline Construction, both with the design and the build itself. Everything has been finished to an exceptional standard and nothing was too much trouble for the team. All of the tradesmen were highly skilled, friendly and considerate."
