Whirlowdale Road Family
BespokeExtensionRemodel
Located on one of Sheffield’s most prestigious residential avenues, this property on Whirlowdale Road had the foundations of a beautiful, traditional stone family home. However, like many detached properties of its era, the original layout lacked the expansive, connected space required for a growing modern family, and failed to make the most of its stunning, deep rear garden. The owners needed a comprehensive architectural overhaul to massively increase their living footprint while introducing multi-generational functionality.
The brief was ambitious and highly precise: to substantially expand the property across multiple areas without compromising its premium, kerbside character. Up front, the Family wanted a seamless double-storey side extension and a grand new entrance porch that looked as though they had always been part of the original stonework. At the rear, the objective shifted toward contemporary luxury - creating a vast, open-plan kitchen and living space that opened entirely onto the garden, alongside a dedicated, self-contained annex to provide private, independent living space.
To deliver this extensive multi-zone transformation, our team executed a complex build schedule that beautifully balances traditional craftsmanship with sleek, modern architecture.
The front of the property benefited from a meticulous double-storey side extension and a striking, bespoke stone entrance porch. To achieve a flawless finish, we carefully sourced and laid matching natural stone, perfectly replicating the existing course lines and lintel details to ensure the new structures blended seamlessly with the original facade.
At the rear, we completely transformed the home's relationship with the garden by constructing a massive, single-storey contemporary extension alongside a high-end, self-contained living annex. Finished in a crisp, premium white render to create a striking modern contrast with the traditional stone, these additions feature expansive bi-folding glass doors and extensive glazing to flood the new open-plan heart of the home with natural light.
The result, well see what you think…
